BBDO/Chibi?

What would you call this style of illustration??? I’m seeing more and more of it on the el, in banner ads, even on TV. For lack of a better term, I’ve been referring to it (when I talk to myself) as “US Anime,” since it seems to draw on the more subtle, yet characteristic, elements of that genre (huge eyes/head… physiologically implausible bodies… etc.) without indulging more Japanese-centric fascinations, such as huge blue hair or schoolgirl outfits. Okay, so that one guy has blue hair, but it’s not huge and spiky!

AMAZING! I’ve bneen using almost the same term for almost the same art! “American Anime” is a term that my friends and I have been tossing around for a little while to poke fun of some of the artwork on certain sites that we maintain.

It seems to be very good as selling coffee and coffee-related products…

Very Interesting! I’m also reminded by your site’s name of SFA pal Pete Fowler, whose stuff is along similar lines, although much weirder. UK Anime? =)

Saw an ad for this place in an LA bathroom:

Seems like she represents some illustrators in the US/UK-Anime Genre. Maybe just “Western Anime?”
