Jah Almighty

Hm, I think maybe now I understand why Damon Albarn is so fond of the melodica. It takes the edge off shite lyrics. Case in point, this song what I wrote:

The Last Day [mp3]

I always knew this day would come…

Ha HA!! Now that I’ve been writing this blog for almost 5 years and have attracted a loyal cadre of what… 7 or 8 readers? I can put into action the next step of my evil plan, namely foisting my musical wankery on all of you. Recently, Dan and I have been trying to write a big, loud rock song about wakefulness-promoting drugs (Sample lyric: “Robots own the future anyway!”), but last night I was messing around quietly with my acoustic guitar and figured I’d try approaching the topic from the other direction. So, to that end, here’s the 1-track demo that I put together. The lyrics were kind of half thought out and half ad-libbed, as evidenced by the part at the end where I can’t come up with a rhyme for “around” and sort of trail of into a laugh and an “ah fuck…” Anyway, as with most music, this owes a lot to various other artists, but in particular I’d like to apologize to Iron & Wine for totally biting his sound, and I suppose to Robert Frost for some of the lyrics. Thanks guys!
